About Us

We are fellow pilgrims from different backgrounds and spiritual traditions. We are clergy, teachers, authors, local pastors, artists, entrepreneurs, poets, homemakers, and soul care professionals.

We hunger and thirst for inner change for our outer walk. We seek to understand how men and women across time used spiritual practices to support their living the Christ-life from the depth of their being — hungry to recover something ancient and enduring for our movement toward wholeness in a broken world.

Who we are.

Deeper Journey Ministries is a clergy/lay-led community serving hundreds of men and women to renew our minds, revive our spirits, and enliven our ministries. We are drawn together in at least three ways:

01

The strength of diversity that comes from openness to seekers from all Christian denominations who are searching for a
heart-opening transformation into the
mind of Christ.

02

A focus on Jesus' spiritual practices and the centuries-old practices that spiritual seekers down through the ages used to open themselves to God’s transforming work.

03

A vital and committed community to hold each participant’s journey by placing ourselves vulnerably before God and each other to be schooled by the Holy Spirit, God’s love, and grace.

What we do.

We cultivate the slow process of transformation in Christ, both in ourselves and others, through Jesus’ ancient practices for modern times.

We create intentional space for God to strengthen souls and nurture growth toward vibrant spiritual wholeness.

01

We equip and empower lives, through the work of the Holy Spirit, at the intersection of their walk with God and their work in the world.

02

We provide Christ-centered education, experiential, and nurturing communities that advance God's work of inner awakening, restoration, and transformation in individuals' lives for the sake of others.

03

We co-labor with God through our grounding scripture,
Romans 12:1-2.

04

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:1-2

What we believe.

Centuries of Christian teaching and practice form our approach to spiritual formation and soul care.

We believe the deep life with God that Jesus Himself experienced is available to all of us through the power of the Holy Spirit right here and now.

01

We believe God draws us into a personal encounter in many ways:  Silence and community, Scripture and prayer, the beauty and mystery of creation, and spiritual practices to be Spirit-shaped for the sake of the world's needs.

02

We believe, “In the final analysis there is nothing we can do to transform ourselves into persons who love and serve as Jesus did except make ourselves available for God to do that work of transforming grace in our lives."

  • We believe in one God,
          the Father almighty,
          maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
          the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
               God from God,
               Light from Light,
               true God from true God,
          begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
               he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
               and was made human.
               He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
               he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
               He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
               His kingdom will never end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
          He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come. Amen.

*The word “catholic” with a lowercase “c” means “relating to the church universal” and was the word used in the original version of the Creed. It does not mean the Roman Catholic Church, but the church, the body of Christ.
