In this video, Skip Barkley, founding board chair of Deeper Journey Ministries, shares who we are and why we exist. Formed in 2022, Deeper Journey Ministries is a nonprofit organization created to support and sustain three distinct spiritual formation programs. You will hear an overview of the School of the Spirit, a yearlong contemplative journey begun in 2009 for clergy, lay leaders, and spiritual pilgrims seeking a deeper relationship with God. Skip also introduces The Sacred Invitation, launched in 2018 as a process of discernment that helps participants recognize their gifts, calling, and vocation. Finally, he explains Inside/Out Leadership, a newer two year program designed to equip graduates to bring contemplative practices and spiritual leadership back into their faith communities. This video also shares the heart of the board’s commitment to these ministries and expresses gratitude for the prayers, encouragement, and financial support that make this work possible. Our Programs
It is good to hunger and thirst. Otherwise, one soon dies —be it spiritually or physically. To cultivate our deeper journey toward union with God, DJM offers two signature cohorts and ongoing opportunities for community and mentorship for those who choose.
DJM programs for modern day pilgrims aim to cultivate complete flowering toward wholeness in Christ using the tried-and-true ancient Way of Jesus and the early church.
